About Kendall Square
Kendall Square is a 10-acre area combining office space, labs, retail shopping and restaurants. Because the area has a lot of offices and laboratories, it is often nicknamed “Technology Square.”
The Square prides itself on being green, as it offers Zip Car use to its residents. Home to several luxury apartment buildings, those living in Kendall Square can enjoy a variety of restaurants in the area, as well as a few retail shops.
Kendall Square also has a free shuttle to the nearby CambridgeSide Galleria Mall, which is home to a large number of retail shops and restaurants, including large department stores such as Macy’s and popular eateries like The Cheesecake Factory.
Aside from retail shops and restaurants, Kendall Square offers a variety of fun activities as well.
During warm weather, free concerts are held every Tuesday and Thursday. There are two Kendall Square Farmers’ Markets in warm weather.
One is every Thursday, at 500 Kendall Street; and the other is on Wednesdays — right on Main Street near the Kendall Square T-Station.
People can also enjoy canoeing or kayaking from the Canoe Center or visiting the Constellation Center, a music venue that boasts four halls under one roof.
Just over the Longfellow Bridge, Kendall Square is formed by the intersections of Broadway, Main Street, and Third Street near the east side of the MIT’s campus.
Accessible from the Kendall/MIT station on the MTBA Red Line, as well as busses towards Kendall/MIT.
Parking is available for residents and visitors in the garage at the intersection of Third and Kendall Streets. The garage is open 24 hours per day, 7 days a week, and visitors can get discounts if they visit area retailers.
