Catherine ‘Kate’ Middleton, Her Royal Highness, Duchess of Cambridge

Kate Middleton was born Catherine Elizabeth Middleton on 9 January, 1982 in Reading, Berkshire, England. Coming from a wealthy family, she attended renowned boarding schools Downe House, Marlborough College, and St. Andrew’s Prep School. As a small girl, Kate faced difficult conflicts concerning bullying which led her to leave the all–girls school Downe House at age 13, and attend co-ed Marlborough College, where she also encountered taunting by her peers. Despite her social difficulties, she was continuously successful in her studies.

In 2001, Kate began her studies at the University of St. Andrews in Fife, Scotland, and was placed in the St. Salvators Hall dormitory—the same building as Prince William of Wales (now Duke of Cambridge). She and Prince William became friends after sharing a number of classes in addition to the dormitory hall, but their romantic relationship was not initiated until later on. At the time when they met, Kate was dating a senior by the name of Rupert Finch. In 2003, she graduated with an honor’s degree in art history.

Her career and professional endeavors faced setbacks as her relationship with Prince William became public, but in 2006 she was hired as assistant accessories buyer for the British clothing line Jigsaw.

Kate Joins the Royal Family

After years of dating and a highly publicized romance filled with rumors and scrutiny, Kate and Prince William became engaged on 16 November, 2010. After their wedding, Her Royal Highness, Queen Elizabeth II gave Kate the title of Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge.

She is a beloved member of the Royal family and is an avid supporter of charities including the East Anglia’s Children’s Hospice, and Action on Addiction.

Michael Francis Middleton was born 23 June, 1949 in Leeds, Yorkshire, England. The son of a pilot, he was educated at Clifton College where he, like his father and grandfather, boarded at Brown House. Carole Middleton was born Carole Elizabeth Goldsmith on 31 January, 1955.

The couple met while working for British Airways, where they were both flight attendants. Michael was later promoted to an aircraft dispatcher at London Heathrow Airport. They were married on 21 June, 1980.

With the help of the family’s entrepreneurship skills, and especially from Carole, they created the very successful party favors firm, Party Pieces. The now multi-million pound firm began in Carole’s kitchen table, but its success allowed them to provide favorably for their three children, offering them an upbringing filled with opportunities.

Pippa Middleton, Sister of Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge

Philippa ‘Pippa’ Charlotte Middleton was born 6 September 1983 in Reading, Berkshire, England. She is the second of three children, following Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge.

Take a closer look at Pippa’s book ‘Celebrate’!

She attended Britain’s elite schools, St. Andrew’s School in Pangbourne, followed by some time at the all-girls boarding school Downe House, and then Marlborough College at Wiltshire. Pippa is known for being the extrovert amongst the three Middleton siblings, and unlike Kate who was bullied as a child, she was popular in school. In 2008, Pippa graduated with a degree in English literature from the University of Edinburgh, where she was friendly with the children of dukes and earls. She even dated George Percy, son of the Duke of Northumberland for some time.

After graduation, and especially after her sister’s Royal wedding, where Pippa was the maid of honour, she became a figure in the spotlight. She has worked at a public relations firm, and as an event planner in London. In 2010, it was announced that her parents wanted to expand their business Party Pieces, with Pippa taking a high position within the company.

In 2012, Pippa released a guide to throwing parties, titled Celebrate. The book was not very positively praised and with little acclaim, the plans she had made to release two additional books were discarded.

James Middleton, Brother of Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge

James William Middleton was born the youngest of the three Middleton siblings on 15 April 1987 in Reading, Berkshire, England.

James has admitted to being dyslexic and attempted to speak out and raise awareness about the condition. As a kid, he attended St. Andrew’s school, and later on Marlborough College. In 2006, he began studying Environmental Resources Management at Edinburgh University, but dropped out a year later to start his own cake-making business.

Now the founder of Cake Kit Company, James is a successful entrepreneur, and his most recent addition to his business is Boomf, a company that prints Instagram photos onto gourmet marshmallows, in his own words, “the edible selfie.” Despite his success, James has been widely criticized for posing with cakes decorated with covers of magazines that include photographs of the Royal family. With naked pictures of him surfacing online, Kate’s youngest brother seems to be a favorite for the media.
