The Cambridge University Automobile Club is a motor club for both students and alumni. It was founded in 1902 and is the second oldest British car club in the country. It is a predominantly student-run organization and any car enthusiast at the university can become a member.
Club activities include weekly meetings around Cambridge, kart races, and road rallies, which involve solving clues and driving from checkpoint to checkpoint within a certain time limit. Kart races are available for drivers of all levels; no prior experience or driver’s license is needed!
Although membership means cheaper racing, there is no commitment and drivers can drop by to race whenever they can. Members also compete in the CUAC Karting championship and can represent Cambridge University in the British Universities Karting Championship.
Cambridge and Oxford also organize an annual Varsity Cart Race to be played against the two teams. If you are an automobile enthusiast, an interested beginner, or somewhere in between, the Cambridge University Automobile Club is for you.
