About Coast Cafe
233 River Street
Coast Cafe will make you feel like you’re on the southern half of the coast. Expect finger lickin’ good soul food and Southern hospitality at this Central Square location.
A History of Hospitality
The restaurant opened in 1997 by a brother and sister team, Tony and Julie Brooks. Their father, Major E. Brooks, was a community volunteer, and in 2004 the siblings dedicated the restaurant to him in his memory.
A Good Southern Menu
You’ll lick your fingers after eating Coast Cafe’s favorites, like their rich cornbread, sweet potato cake, and beef patty. For an entree, you have to get a chicken box.
These are no ordinary boxes; they’re fried and seasoned to perfection. Tony and Julie say their chicken is the healthiest fried chicken in all of Greater Boston.
For dessert, set your sight on a Coconut Wonder Bar, Sweet Potato Slice, or the cafe’s signature bread pudding. Each dish is sweet and refreshing, just like mama’s back home.
