Coffee lovers living or working in the Porter Square area, your search is over. Whether you’d like to stick to your usual latte or try something exciting, Bourbon Coffee will make it better than anywhere else, and here’s why.
Bourbon Coffee Philosophy
When it opened, Bourbon had a simple philosophy: to bring “crop to cup.” Fair and direct trade has been a paramount aspect of the way Bourbon does business since the beginning. Their beans come from Rwanda and are served in all of Bourbon Coffee’s locations in Rwanda and the United States.
In this way, the café seeks to bring what the tiny country of Rwanda has to the table while directly paying farmers at least 25% more than the Fair Trade price for their coffee. Long story short, you can feel great about purchasing from Bourbon Coffee.
Bourbon Coffee Experience
Of course, fair trade isn’t nearly all that makes Bourbon Coffee special. Their specialty seasonal lattes are always worth the risk of trying something new. While classics like pumpkin spice are always a crowd favorite, so are the more inventive flavors like rose petal, lavender, and turtle mocha.
For those who aren’t so fond of coffee or are just looking for something more refreshing, Bourbon seasonally offers drinks like Purple Rain, a pineapple based juice, and the Summer Slammer smoothie.
Returning customers who may not have visited for a while will notice that in addition to the typical coffee shop snacks like muffins and croissants that Bourbon has always offered, an extensive menu of sandwiches, paninis, and more has been recently added as a product of their remodel this summer.
Bourbon Coffee is the perfect hotspot for students and professionals, as it provides free WiFi to its customers as well as ample seating space. Grab an iced chai and find your favorite nook—whether it be a high-top bar-style seat or a cozy corner couch.
Bourbon also uses the app Belly, a loyalty system which allows you to rack up points each time you visit in order to earn rewards like free espresso drinks and pastries, making it even easier to become Bourbon Coffee’s newest regular.
The United States only hosts two more locations of this gem, both in Washington, D.C. Swing by Bourbon Coffee next time you need study fuel or a sweet treat, for everything you love in a coffee shop without the guilt of supporting non-fair trade.
