If you are free on the evening of September 22nd, you should go to the CCTV’s Backlot BBQ. There, you can enjoy delicious local food, live music, and more.

And since the event is a fundraiser for CCTV’s Youth Media Program, you can leave the barbecue satisfied that you have contributed to a good cause!

Food. This one is fairly obvious (since you already know it’s a barbecue), but it’s worth repeating. You will have some delicious food grilled by local chefs.

Zili Misik. While you enjoy this delicious food, you also can listen to a live performance by an all female band which specializes in acoustic and electronic fusion music from the African diaspora. Come to the barbecue and Zili Misik will present a captivating lineup of songs with influences ranging from Haitian mizik rasin to neo soul.

The silent auction. Though this year’s auction items have yet to be released, last year you could bid on a range of goods and special deals including a membership to the Isabella Stewart Gardner museum (valued at $90).

The Rossi Award Ceremony. Join in a dedication to the retiring city manager, Richard Rossi, as he accepts the new Rossi Award for Creative and Responsive Leadership.

About the Youth Media Program

The Youth Media Program contains two parts: the summer Media Institute (a six week program) and the School Year Production Program (a seven month program).

Each division of this program gives local teenagers firsthand experience in media production. While in the program, students will learn camcorder basics, editing, lighting, and more. Unlike most internships for teenagers, this program actually pays students for their work in the program.
