Do you remember your first Harry Potter release party? Remember waiting in line at the mall with a lightning bolt sticker on your forehead? Maybe you brought your kid, or maybe you were a kid. The excitement in line was pure magic.

Now, you can feel that magic again with the Harry Potter and the Cursed Child’s release party in Harvard Square, July 30th.

The celebrations kick off with a performance from magician Bob Riordan at Palmer street at 8:15pm. Stay on Palmer street after his show for a 9:00 film screening of Harry Potter. Then head over to the Harvard Co-op for discounted copies of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.

All festivities in “Hogwarts Square” are free and muggle friendly.

Yes, there will be a line – but you will hardly notice. Games, Harry Potter themed refreshments, and more will keep you busy as you wait. As you pass the time, you can finally find out who’s the Slytherin in your group with a sorting hat ceremony, or you can show off your nerd cred with Harry Potter trivia.

Reserve your place at the party and pre-order your copy of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child by calling the Harvard Book Store (617)661-1515, or by visiting their website.

About Harry Potter and the Cursed Child

The description from the play’s official website:

It was always difficult being Harry Potter and it isn’t much easier now that he is an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, a husband and father of three school-age children.

While Harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted. As past and present fuse ominously, both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: sometimes, darkness comes from unexpected places.
