Are you tired of eating the same old Mexican food all of the time? Sure, Chipotle and other fast-food joints are great, but you can’t beat the taste of authentic, freshly prepared Mexican cuisine. Head over to Central Square and you can find just that at the newly opened Naco Taco.
About Naco Taco
Naco Taco opened it’s doors in early May, just in time for the summer weather to roll in. The perfect time for tacos and sangria, in my opinion.
According to Boston Magazine, co-owners Michael Scelfo, Brian Lesser and Alex Tannenbaum, were inspired by the food parks of Austin and Portland, Oregon to create Naco Taco, an indoor and outdoor taqueria. The co-owners describe it as a “long-term pop-up,” as in addition to the interior portion of the restaurant, there is also a 90-seat patio and 30-foot trailer that will double as a second kitchen in the warmer weather.
The fun isn’t all outdoors, though. Inside, they have pinball machines and standup arcade games like PacMan, televisions playing spaghetti westerns and throwback music videos.
Food and Drink at Naco Taco
The food is what Naco Taco is all about. Their menu features a variety of, you guessed it, tacos. They may look a little different from the tacos you have come to expect over the years, but no fear, they are packed with flavor and easy on the eyes as well.
Try everything on the list! They have tacos with the following meat selections: lamb, beef, chicken, fish, pork, pig’s head and a vegetarian option as well. Snack on a variety of chips and salsa’s as well.
As for the drinks, Naco’s 25-seat, U-shaped bar serves a selection of 30 rotating canned beers, seasonal sangria offerings, shandies, wines on tap, and seven different types of micheladas, in variations like roasted tomatillo, mole, and smoked agave nectar.
Naco Taco Location and Hours
From Sunday-Wednesday, the Naco Taco kitchen is open from 11am to 11pm and from Thursday-Saturday from 11am-12am. The bar is open an hour later on all nights.
Parking is available in a lot behind the restaurant at 19 State Street.
