Cambridge and Boston Events

It’s that time of year again where winter break is teasing us. So close, and yet so far away. For many of us, that home stretch means a pile of work to get through before the holidays arrive. If you need something to take your mind off work this weekend, there are plenty of Cambridge and Boston events to distract you.

The Nutcracker is inseparable from Christmas. Full of elaborate, colorful costumes, festive sets, iconic music from Tchaikovsky, and of course, stunning dancing, this ballet is an essential part of the holiday season. José Mateo Ballet Theatre is once again putting on this season’s holiday performance at the Sanctuary Theatre.

Let yourself be enchanted by this dreamy wonderland. José Mateo has combined his professional company dancers with over 100 child dancers. It’s an affordable performance for all ages – I remember going to the Nutcracker with my mom every December as a girl. And I’m still just as captivated by it. (Now, one part of the Nutcracker that I enjoy almost as much as the performance is seeing all the little girls in the audience dressed up in the finest theatre dresses.)
