Well, folks, we’ve finally reached the last week of summer. If you were still holding out on water activities, now’s your last chance, and Cambridge has the perfect event for you. Don’t worry if you’ve moved on to fall, though. (I’ve been ready for this season since fall 2013 ended.) There are plenty of indoor Cambridge and Boston events lined up for you this weekend.

The star event of this weekend is the Head of the Charles Regatta. Maybe you walk past the Charles River every day without giving it a second glance, but you can’t miss it this weekend. In fact, you won’t have a chance of ignoring it, with the 400,000 spectators and 11,000 competitors attending the event. The Head of the Charles Regatta is the biggest two-day rowing tournament in the world. This year is extra special, because it’s the 50th anniversary, so the event organizers are offering additional attractions, including a gala, a documentary, and a Head of the Charles history exhibit. The races last all day on Saturday and Sunday, so if you’re like me and would rather watch people who are more athletic than you perform impressive physical feats while you sit cozily on the sidelines, be sure to check out the Charles this weekend.
